If you are specifying a second source, or replacing a premium European brand on cost grounds, the question is simple: does the alternative protect the same? Below is a like-for-like comparison against published 3M™ PELTOR™ X Series data — same standard, same rating system, report numbers included.
Helmet-mounted models — same standard, same rating
Both sets of figures are SNR values tested to EN 352-3:2020.
| MEIYIN S2H | 3M PELTOR X4P3 | MEIYIN S3H | 3M PELTOR X5P3 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SNR | 32 dB | 32 dB | 36 dB | 36 dB |
| Standard | EN 352-3:2020 | EN 352-3:2020 | EN 352-3:2020 | EN 352-3:2020 |
| Test report | Q9166A | Published datasheet | Q9080A | Published datasheet |
| Weight | 246 g | 238 g | 330 g | 352 g |
| Cushion replacement | Range-wide common part | Model-specific kit (HYX4) | Range-wide common part | Model-specific kit (HYX5) |
The attenuation figures are identical. Not “comparable”, not “equivalent class” — the same number, under the same standard version, measured by a laboratory accredited for that standard.
Headband model
| MEIYIN S3 | 3M PELTOR X5A | |
|---|---|---|
| SNR | 36 dB | 37 dB |
| Standard | EN 352-1:2020 | EN 352-1 |
| Weight | 330 g | 347 g |
| Headband | High-strength metal wire core, PU over-moulded | Stainless steel wire, insulated |
| Clamping force | 10.2–11.1 N | 10.5 N |
| Clamping force change after conditioning | 2.0 % (limit 15 %) | Not published |
| Cushion replacement | Range-wide common part | Model-specific kit (HYX5) |
1 dB apart on SNR, 17 g lighter, and the same clamping force band.
Electronic and communication models
| SNR — headband | 32 dB (EN 352-1:2020, report Q7821A) |
| SNR — helmet-mounted | 30 dB (EN 352-3:2020, report Q7822A) |
| Bluetooth | MT500, MG700 Pro, MG700 Mesh |
| Two-way radio (PMR / DMR) built in | MG700 COM, MG700 Pro |
| Mesh full-duplex group communication | MG700 Mesh (Mesh 4.0) |
All four models share one acoustic shell, so hearing-protection performance is identical across the family — you can change the communication technology without re-qualifying the hearing protection.
Mesh full-duplex is our own technology. Group communication without a base station, without a radio licence, and without push-to-talk — everyone in the group talks and hears simultaneously, like being in the same room.
Where we are genuinely different
Three things worth knowing before you compare on price alone.
One cushion fits the range
Our ear cushions are a common part across the S-series, MT500 and MG700 platforms. Premium European brands supply model-specific hygiene kits — a different part number for each model in the range. For a distributor or an MRO store, that is the difference between stocking one spare and stocking five.
Attenuation stability is measured, not asserted
Our EN 352 reports include the post-conditioning headband force test: after accelerated ageing, clamping force on the S3 changed by a mean of 2.0 %, against a standard limit of 15 %. Clamping force is what holds the acoustic seal; when it decays, real-world attenuation decays with it. Most published datasheets give you the initial force only.
We are the factory
95 % of our output is built for other brands. The models on this page can be produced under your own brand, with your colour, your logo and your packaging, from 500 pieces. Sample in 10 days.

Selecting by attenuation, not by brand
SNR is a single-number rating. For a specific noise spectrum — low-frequency plant noise behaves very differently from high-frequency pneumatic tooling — request the full octave-band data and we will send the report.
Laboratory-derived attenuation data is for comparison purposes. Real-world protection depends on fit, wearing time and the condition of the product. Both we and the brands referenced here recommend fit testing.
